Only once in a while do we encounter a real treat in music. The legendary bassist Noel Redding of The Jimi Hendrix Experience described a then 18 year old Dutch guitar player as one of the most exciting players to see & hear since his heyday. Mick Hup was born & raised in Holland and fell in love with the guitar at the age of 11. By 14 he took to the stage to begin the long road of perfecting stagecraft with several bands & projects. In 2000 he self penned & recorded his first solo album SOULPOWER produced by Marcel Singor & Arvid v/d Bosch. In the meantime he earned his stagecraft jamming & working as a session musician with notable luminaries such as the fore mentioned Noel Redding, Irish Song writers Francie Conway & Mark Gilligan, Stephen Housden (The Little River Band) & Marcel Singor. While attending the respected rock collage in the Dutch city of Tilburg he wrote & recorded songs for several bands and singers such as Hot Sushi. Excelling in songwriting & session work, Mick is a born natural producer.
In 2008 he emerged onto the world’s stage with a brand new three-piece outfit featuring Theo Thumper(drums) & Anne Maarten “Hills” van Heuvelen (bass). Under the guise of BLACK TOP, they released their debut album “Rough ‘n Gritty” they immediately received critical acclaim.

In 2009 Mick was asked to join a great band called OBERG. Knowing Ted Oberg from when he was a kid, listening to the famous Livin' Blues records. The first licks and tricks that inspired Mick came from many great guitar layers including this man.
